Accountability Ratings Released

The Texas Education Agency released new accountability ratings for districts and campuses on August 15, 2018. Giddings ISD received a rating of "B" and all campuses received the "Met Standard" rating.

Campus Evacuation Ordered and Halted When the Campus was Deemed Secure

Giddings ISD activated its emergency response plan as a response to a suspicious package located outside of the intermediate campus on the morning of August 22, 2018. Law enforcement immediately converged on the campus and campus evacuation procedures began. It was quickly determined that the package was placed there by an employee and the building was determined to be secure. The evacuation was halted and all students and staff resumed normal procedures.

GISD would like to express its appreciation to the Giddings Police Department and Lee County Sheriff's Department for their partnership with the district and quick response to this incident.

Student Transfer Applications

Current transfer students who wish to be considered for approval as a transfer student for the 2018-2019 school year must return the transfer application by April 30, 2018.

New transfer students who wish to be considered for approval for the 2018-2019 school year must submit the application by May 31, 2018.

GISD Hires Wade Griffin to be New AD / Head Football Coach

The Giddings I.S.D. Board of Trustees unanimously voted to hire Wade Griffin as the District’s Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at their meeting on March 5, 2018. Coach Griffin previously held the same position at Fort Worth Brewer High School. He has nineteen years of overall experience including experience at both the high school and college level. Coach Griffin has had coaching stops during his career at Elgin High School, Georgetown High School, Navarro Junior College, Round Rock Westwood High School, Brookshire Royal High School, Tenaha High School, and the University of Central Oklahoma.

Coach Griffin and his wife Terra, who is also a coach, have four children, three girls and one boy. They are excited about the opportunity to move back to Central Texas and becoming part of the Community of Giddings.
