THE GHS AG SHOP welders traveled to the Waller County Fair last weekend to compete in multiple events at the Waller County Fair Welding Competition. The team earned seven awards in various competitions.

Giddings Ag Shop Welders went to Hempstead last Saturday and competed in the Waller County Fair Welding Competition. The Giddings Team consisted of 13 young men - Ely Hunt, Cody Beisert, Armando Rubalcava, Acxel Resendez, Chris Gibson, Brett Schneider, Juan Villela, Saul Lara, Richard Boriak, David Morado, Edgar Sanchez, Juan Rojas, and Zaith Rodriquez.

There were four levels of welding including a cutting contest, a tool ID quiz, and an underwater welding competition.

Brett Schneider placed 2nd in the Level 2 welding and 3rd in the quiz. Richard Boriak placed 2nd in the Level 3 welding. Juan Rojas placed 5th and Zaith Rodriquez placed 6th in the Level 3 Masters welding.

Ely Hunt placed 4th in the quiz and 1st in the underwater welding competition.

Overall it was a great day for Giddings and also a learning experience for the younger guys. There were about 22-25 other schools represented there.

The Build-Off Team will be heading to SHSU on Oct. 5 for a trailer build competition then back to the Brazos County Fair on Oct. 12 for another trailer build competition.
