Eleven students from Giddings High School will compete at the State UIL Academic Meet on May 1. State qualifiers are: Joshua Kennedy,Chase Oltmann, Jaxson Jaeger, Raina Allee, Sarah Cardenas, Leana Mitri, Megan Hobratschk, Zoe Essman, Maddie Birnbaum, Jamie Doggett, and Maggie Smith.
Regional qualifiers competed in Nacogdoches on April . Giddings High School placed 3rd overall in Region 3.
The Accounting team took first place. Team members were: Joshua Kennedy (1st place in individual competition); Chase Oltmann (3rd place); Jaxson Jaeger (5th place); Raina Allee (6th place).
The Spelling and Vocabulary team won first place. Team members were: Megan Hobratschk (4th place in individual competition), Zoe Essman (6th place), Maddie Birnbaum, and Jamie Doggett.
The Computer Science team placed 2nd. Team members were: Kayden Bloodworth (4th place in individual competition), Jett McCleney, Garrett Lawrence (tied for 6th place), and Evan Young.
In Computer Applications, following individuals earned honors: Sarah Cardenas, 1st; Leana Mitri, 3rd; Kailey Burgdorf, 4th.
Maggie Smith placed 3rd in Headline Writing.
