This past weekend GHS BBQ was well represented at the THSBBQ state competition in Granite Shoals. One team, the Junior Ranch Hands consisting of Hagen Boullion, Kayden Kasper, Emma Meachen, and Chase Ramirez, earned reserve champions which consisted of 19th place for beans, 3rd place for chicken, and 2nd place for brisket. The other team, the Grill Billies, consisting of Hunter Eyler, Skyler Johnson, Rebekkah Richardson, Kaleb Sherrod, and Nathan Snyder, earned 20th overall receiving 5th place for chicken. Congratulations to these two teams on representing GHS well! Go Buffs!


The UIL Academics team competed at the Region 3 UIL Academic meet at SFA University this past weekend. The UIL team is the overall Region 3 Runner-up.
The Accounting and Spelling team are the region 3 champions and will compete at the UIL state meet along with individuals Brandon Burgdorf for Computer Science and Dylan deShetler for Literary Criticism. Congratulations to these students!!

The UIL Academics team traveled to Blinn College at Brenham on Friday, March 27. 55 students competed in multiple events and they did an awesome job representing GHS. We scored 540 points from all of the events that competed last week and this earned GHS UIL the title of District Champs!! (The second place team had 369 points.) There were a record number of first place teams and regional qualifiers. The students and coaches have done a great job this year, please congratulate them.
