Giddings Middle School Students:: If you would like a hard copy of your schedule, you may pick one up at the GMS office Wednesday (8/10) or Thursday (8/11) between 8am and 3pm. *** Schedules are available on the Parent Portal *** Schedules will also be available at the Meet The Teacher event on Thursday evening from 6pm to 7pm.

GMS Athletes: 7th & 8th grade boys/girls with physicals on file or in-hand will be able to pick up equipment on August 15th & 16th from 1-3 pm at the MS gym. All athletes must have a physical on file in order to begin practice/workouts for the upcoming season.

Reserved seating football tickets are now available for purchase at Giddings High School prior to the first game. There are many reserved seats available for purchase. Reserve season tickets are $8.00 per game or $40.00 for all 5 home games. The first home game is Friday, September 9th versus Lago Vista. Previous ticket holders will have the option of obtaining the same seats as the 2021 season before the first home game. On Monday, September 12th, all unclaimed, previous year, reserved season tickets will go on sale following the first home game. Reserved tickets will remain on sale at Giddings High School during the football season for purchase. Reserved seating will also be sold at the first home game ONLY so get them early.

Giddings Middle School will hold Meet The Teacher night on Thursday, August 11 from 6pm to 7pm. A 6th grade Parent Meeting will be held the same night from 5:30pm to 6pm.

Don't forget!! Buffs Football Camp for 3rd through 6th graders. The camp is Monday July 25th through Wednesday July 26th in the evenings (7pm to 8:30pm). The cost is $40. The sign-up form can be found here: https://5il.co/1az1b

The GHS Freshman Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 2 at 6:00PM in the cafeteria. Mark your calendars!

TEA has announced that STAAR assessment results will not be available until July 1. At that time, you may view you child's test results by logging on at https://www.texasassessment.gov/. This requires a unique access code for your student. If you do not know your child's unique access code, you can retrieve it by clicking on the link on the TexasAssessment web page titled "Lookup unique access code". Dear parents and families, As you know, our students took the STAAR tests earlier this spring. Soon you will receive your child’s STAAR scores. The STAAR is one of many ways to measure student learning. Teachers will use STAAR results along with other information to co-create learning plans with families to jumpstart learning next year. Starting on June 24th, you will be able to access your child’s STAAR results by logging into TexasAssessment.gov. Use the unique access code listed below and enter it on the Texas Assessment homepage. This will take you directly to your child’s STAAR results, which will include detailed breakdowns in each subject, identifying your child’s strengths as well as areas where they may need additional support. Parents have shared that seeing which questions their child got incorrect has been the most useful. You will also see easy to use resources that can be used at home over the summer focused on the skills your child needs the most support with. We encourage you to log in and learn more any time beginning June 24th. Use this information along with your own observations from the past year and your child’s grades to create a learning plan with teachers in the fall to help your child succeed. Giddings ISD has two locations to stop by and enjoy summer meals. Summer meals provided are for children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old. Both feeding sites will be open Monday – Thursday – beginning Tuesday, May 31st through Thursday, June 30th. End of the Year Awards at Giddings Middle School will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the following times: 8th Grade at 8:00 a.m. 7th Grade at 9:00 a.m. 6th Grade 9:50 a.m. All award assemblies will take place in the GMS GYM. Please enter through the Front Office and bring your photo ID.

The girls and boys GHS soccer teams advanced to the Area round of the playoffs. They will both play Salado on Tuesday (tomorrow) at Manor High School Mustang Stadium. Due to the possibility of severe weather this evening, GMS Cheer Camp is be cancelled for tonight. The parent meeting for tryouts will be rescheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6.

Message from Superintendent Roger Dees . . A school administrator is accustomed to receiving many types of emails and text messages. Receiving a text like I received this morning makes me proud to be a Buffalo. I am proud of the quality educators we have here at GISD. I am proud of our parents. I am proud of students like these that set an example of the character we build here at GISD. . . “Last night, Giddings Middle School participated in the Rockdale Relays. There were 8 teams. The football field was PACKED with kids. It was a long night with the event finishing around 1030. I was glad that I live 3 blocks from the stadium. When the event ended, the stadium emptied quickly, except for one team. Giddings coaches held a team gathering in one of the endzones. Don't tell anyone, but this began to make my blood boil. I was tired and ready to go home. Then all the Giddings Athletes stood up, stood shoulder to shoulder, walked from one end zone to the other picking up trash. My selfish attitude sank. I don't know where Giddings finished overall in the meet, but I know in my heart they displayed true CHARACTER. Left the place better than they found it. Character is not measured by trophies or metals, or placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. It's measured later in life when people know they can't count on you to do the right thing when nobody is looking. That's what student athletics is about, building character. Paying out of district tuition is worth it for me. Tip of the hat to the coaches. Proud to be a parent of a Giddings Student Athlete.” . .
