CHILD NUTRITION DEPARTMENT

CHARTWELLS LOGO

Welcome to Chartwells @ Giddings ISD School Dining Services. Our goal is to provide the best-quality food for each student every day.

Chartwells' menus are built to support the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and use recipes that taste great and are lower in fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. Our menus also provide whole grains, fruits, vegetables and appropriate portion sizes for all age groups. We analyze our recipes for nutrient content and food values using a food-base menu planning and analysis program that complies with child nutrition guidelines for the National School Breakfast & Lunch programs.

In order to serve our students better, we offer Breakfast at all of our campuses daily to make sure students start the day off right.

Please email us anytime with questions or comments.

Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) provides food benefits to families

Did your child receive free or reduced-price school meals through the National School Lunch Program during the 2020–21 school year? If so, your family may be eligible for P-EBT benefits to purchase food. The P-EBT application opens June 2.

Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) provides food benefits to families with enrolled students (up to 21 years of age) who temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals for the 2020–2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas Department of Agriculture and Texas Health and Human Services request that schools attempt to contact eligible families before the application opens June 2, 2021. Thank you for your assistance with the P-EBT program. We appreciate all the work you do to help make sure Texas families have access to food during this time.
To apply, go to yourtexasbenefits.com/Learn/PEBT (application link is case-sensitive). The application opens June 2. Deadline to apply is Aug. 13, 2021.

FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE MEALS COMMUNITY ELIGIBILITY PROVISION (CEP)

Giddings Elementary and Giddings Intermediate schools are continuing their policy to operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2019-2020 school year. Schools qualifying to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This new approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.
