Giddings ISD Statement Regarding Volleyball Tournament Allegations

Giddings ISD is aware of allegations related to an incident that occurred during the volleyball tournament at Georgetown Eastview High School on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the District cannot disclose details regarding the circumstances that led to these allegations or the identities of any students involved. However, the District has completed a full and thorough investigation into the matter.

The investigation determined that student-athletes did not run or perform “shuffles” at any point during the tournament, including during the period of high temperatures that day. Furthermore, it was confirmed that Coach Wolff did not abandon the team. She coached all three matches, interacted with players between matches, and remained on-site at the Georgetown East View High School facility for the entirety of the day.

At one point between matches, Coach Wolff temporarily walked away from the team in an attempt to de-escalate a tense situation. However, the only time she left the facility was after the conclusion of the final game, when she was directed to do so for her own safety after an individual walked across the court during a match, entered the team area, confronted her verbally, and was subsequently made to leave the team area by officials at the tournament. Coach Wolff immediately departed the facility after the match in a school vehicle, while an assistant coach—who was also present throughout the day—drove the athletes back to Giddings and ensured their safe return.

As Head Volleyball Coach, Coach Wolff is responsible for student discipline, practices, roster management, substitutions, rotations, game strategy, and overall team operations. These decisions are made using her professional judgment, informed by experience, data, and real-time situational awareness. While not every decision may be universally agreed upon by parents, Coach Wolff remains committed to exercising sound judgment and leading the program with integrity, professionalism, and the goal of providing student-athletes with the best possible opportunity for success.

While differences of opinion will always be a part of competitive athletics, Giddings ISD remains proud of its student-athletes and staff who represent the District with commitment, integrity, teamwork, and Buffalo Pride both on and off the court and field of play.
