Texas public schools are required to provide a minimum of 75,600 instructional minutes each school year. Due to bad weather, school was canceled on January 26, 2026, resulting in a loss of instructional time.
To meet the state-required instructional minutes and avoid having a make-up day on May 8, 2026, the Board of Trustees has approved eliminating the previously scheduled early release day on Friday, March 6.
As a result, school will dismiss at the normal time on March 6, 2026. The scheduled early release will not occur.
