The Giddings Independent School District Board of Trustees has hired Dr. Melissa Crosby to serve as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent. The Board approved Dr. Crosby’s employment during its July 16, 2026, meeting.
Dr. Crosby brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, including extensive experience in campus leadership, instructional support, special education, and teaching. She has served as a principal in Waller ISD since 2013, most recently serving as principal of McReavy Elementary School, and also served as principal of Fields Store Elementary School for more than a decade.
Throughout her career, Dr. Crosby has demonstrated a commitment to instructional excellence, leadership development, and building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and communities. Her leadership experience includes strategic planning, campus operations, professional development, curriculum alignment, data-informed decision-making, staffing, budgeting, and the oversight of special programs and student services.
Dr. Crosby earned her Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University in May 2026. She also holds a master's degree in Educational Psychology and a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, both from Texas A&M University. She holds certifications as a Superintendent, Principal, and in several areas of special education, English as a Second Language, elementary education, reading, and mathematics.
She has been recognized as Waller ISD Elementary Principal of the Year in 2017 and 2022. In 2014, Fields Store Elementary School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. She was also selected for the 2023 Raising School Leaders Program Cohort through the Charles Butt Foundation.

Dr. Crosby expressed her enthusiasm about joining the Giddings ISD team and serving the students, staff, and families.

Dr. Crosby assumed her duties as Assistant Superintendent on July 20, 2026.
