Giddings Independent School District announced today that it will operate the Community Eligibility Program
(CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2026-2027 school year.
Schools qualifying to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the
collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This approach reduces burdens
for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

Although parents will not need to complete the free and reduced-priced lunch application this year, we kindly ask
that you fill out the Income Survey Form that will be sent home with your child over the next few days. This is
very important for the following reasons:
If we do not receive enough of the completed Income Surveys this year, it is extremely likely that
Giddings ISD will no longer be able to participate in the CEP program.
This information helps us identify students who may qualify for valuable services and support programs.
The surveys help ensure that GISD receives all of the state and federal funding our district is entitled to
receive.
Your participation can have a significant impact on our students, schools, and our entire community.
