The Lady Buffs track team sent three qualifiers to the State Meet in Austin last week (Thursday, May 6, 2021).
Sophomore Carlie Weiser brought home a State Championship in both the discus and the shot put, blowing away her competition in both events.
Weiser hurled the discus 153' 6", besting the 2nd place finisher by over 18 feet. Similarly, she sent the shot put to 47' 7", beating out her closest opponent by nearly 4 feet.
Tiyana Jones finished 6th in the 200m with a time of 25.41 seconds.
Tranasia Jones finished 8th in the 400m with a time of 58.70 seconds.
The two first place finishes by Carlie Weiser and the 6th place finish by Tiyana Jones gave the Lady Buffs 21 points in the team competition, giving the team an 8th place finish in the state.
