🌟 This week is all about celebrating the amazing humans who make our school shine! Our staff members pour their hearts into supporting our students every single day, and this is our chance to show them how much that matters. 💙

Whether it's a kind word, a thank you note, or a simple smile in the hallway, please take a moment to let our teachers, aides, custodians, office staff, and everyone in between know how grateful we are for them. 🙌 These incredible people are the backbone of our school community, and we truly would not be where we are without their dedication and care.

If you see a staff member this week, a genuine "thank you" goes such a long way! ✨

“GISD Once Again Achieves Perfect Score on T.E.A. Financial Rating”
Giddings ISD achieved “Superior Achievement” ratings once
again for the 2024-2025 School Year on the Texas Education Agency’s
Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) audit for this past
school year. This is the third year in a row that Giddings has attained a
perfect score of 100% on the instrument, which analyzes twenty-one
major indicators. In addition, GISD once again received a clean audit
of “No Findings” from a required comprehensive independent
accounting firm on their Annual Financial Report (AFR).

Just a reminder!!!

Welcome Back Everyone!!! We can't wait to see all of our excited kiddos on August 7th (Thursday) from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm.

We will start with a Parent/Student Meeting in the GIS Gym at 5:00 pm and then you will be released to meet your teachers and drop off school supplies in your homerooms. We will also need to know how your child will be getting home the first day of school. If you have questions about bus routes you can contact the GISD Transportation Department and they can give you routes and approximate pick up and drop off times.

Please be sure to come by the school early to grab your schedule so you do not have to wait in line the night of Meet the Teacher!! You can come anytime between Aug 6th - Aug 7th from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. If you have not registered your child there will not be a schedule for them yet, but we will be able to hand you the needed paperwork to complete the process.

We look forward to meeting everyone and starting off an AMAZING school year!!!

This afternoon, Giddings Middle School received a call from a parent that received a bogus text that there might be a school shooting as GMS. The Giddings Police Department was immediatly notified and began investigating. The Giddings Police Department has determined thus far that this number may be linked to an unverifiable account. Giddings Police Department has concluded that there is no credible threat at this time. GPD will continue its investigation and GPD and GISD will continue to keep the safety of our students and staff as our top priority. There is a GMS football game this evening and we will have extra security at the game.

hi I
NOTICE OF FALSE ALERT AT GIDDINGS I.S.D. (For Immediate Release 9/10/2024) Ray DeSpain, Ed. D., GISD Superintendent Late yesterday afternoon, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department received a message alleging that a student had been overheard making a threat to do harm at the school. School personnel were immediately alerted, and we began a full investigation in cooperation with law enforcement personnel. That investigation went late into the evening yesterday, and continued through lunch time today. At no time was there ever any credible evidence of danger to any student or staff member, nor was there any weapon involved or threat of harm verified. In the future, we respectfully request that any person with credible knowledge of an incident or threat is encouraged to report it to appropriate school personnel or law enforcement instead of posting on social media. Rest assured that we will always do our due diligence to make sure all students and staff are safe at all times – which is our number one priority as school administrators. Giddings ISD whole heartedly believes in the Homeland Security slogan of: “If you see something, say something.” However, repeating rumors and spreading false information with no credibility only creates fear and makes it more difficult for the District to respond in these type situations.
