NOTICE OF FALSE ALERT AT GIDDINGS I.S.D.

Late yesterday afternoon, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department received a
message alleging that a student had been overheard making a threat to do harm at the
school. School personnel were immediately alerted, and we began a full investigation in
cooperation with law enforcement personnel. That investigation went late into the
evening yesterday, and continued through lunch time today.
At no time was there ever any credible evidence of danger to any student or staff
member, nor was there any weapon involved or threat of harm verified.
In the future, we respectfully request that any person with credible knowledge of
an incident or threat is encouraged to report it to appropriate school personnel or law
enforcement instead of posting on social media. Rest assured that we will always do
our due diligence to make sure all students and staff are safe at all times – which is our
number one priority as school administrators.
Giddings ISD whole heartedly believes in the Homeland Security slogan of: “If
you see something, say something.” However, repeating rumors and spreading false
information with no credibility only creates fear and makes it more difficult for the District
to respond in these type situations.
Homecoming week is approaching quickly!! Here are the themes for each day for the week of Sept 16-20. These themes are following the GHS themes to make it easier on families across the district.
Students may dress up but are still required to be in dress code with their outfits each day.
GISD Parents, if you have not completed your student's online enrollment through the ParentPortal for this school year, please do so.
PARENT REMINDER: GISD would like to ask that all student documents be returned soon to your students campus. .

• DO NOT register NEW Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grade Online
• New Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third registration packets must be picked at Giddings Elementary .
• Beginning May 13th through May 22nd registration packets can be picked up and dropped off from 9:00am to 2:00pm
• Beginning May 28th through June 19th registration packets can be picked up and dropped off from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Congratulations to Assistant Superintendent Shane Holman on receiving the prestigious award from Region 13 as Star of the Month. This award is given to those who are making an impact on their school district. We appreciate all Shane has done for Giddings ISD in his 32 years of service in education. This award shows his dedication and love for our students and staff here at Giddings ISD. Shane, thank you for exhibiting the true meaning of Buffalo Pride!
GISD will be on Spring Break March 11th - 15th. Students and staff will return on March 18th. We hope everyone has a relaxing and safe time off!!

Wednesday January 24: Due to heavy rain & flooding in our area there is a 2 hour delay this morning.

Giddings ISD will return to normal school hours of operation tomorrow (Wednesday, January 16th).
Day #1 of UIL will be moved to 1/30.
Giddings ISD Alert: Due to hazardous weather conditions, Giddings ISD will be canceling all classes for Tuesday, January 16. A decision regarding school Wedenesday and other related school events will be made on Tuesday afternoon. Thanks, Dr. D.
